Allow for Price Overrides/Additions on Priced Items
AnsweredWe've had this request from a few of our brands the ability to override the POS price, or add additional price markup(maybe through a different field under the item) to items that have prices already defined in Toast. This request usually comes from brands that had this functionality with their previous POS provider. This allows an integrator to override the POS price in cases where a marketplace (delivery provider) upcharges every item, and the markups will vary by marketplace. This eliminates the need for brands to create a unique menu per marketplace.

We've been thinking about future updates in which restaurants can configure different menu item prices per order source. For example, an item can cost $5 when ordered in-store, $6 in Toast online ordering, and $6.50 in Olo. We don't have concrete plans for these updates at the moment, but they are under consideration for 2022.
In the meantime, the price editor allows restaurants to update prices in bulk. If a restaurant maintains different menus for different ordering provider, they can make a pricing update across the whole menu, e.g. increase all item prices by 10%. It's also possible for two menus to share an item but price the item differently on each menu using menu-specific pricing. Sharing items between menus allows both menus to reflect non-pricing updates to the item over time, such as stock/inventory status and the item name.
