paymentStatus: "PAID" vs "CLOSED"
AnsweredWhat I'm seeing in our logs is that when we poll orders from Toast, sometimes we receive the 99% EXACT same payload from Toast on more than one occasion. The only difference in the payloads is the value of "paymentStatus".
Please can you explain to me the difference between "paymentStatus": "PAID" vs "paymentStatus": "CLOSED".
By the way, what other values can there be for "paymentStatus" and what do they signify?

There are three statuses, OPEN, PAID, and CLOSED.
- OPEN - There is a remaining balance. This could be because the check has not been paid, or only partially.
- PAID - The full balance of the check has been paid, but the tip has not been adjusted. This doesn't mean there will be a tip (someone could tip in cash) this just means the system has not received confirmation that no update (in the form of a tip) is needed.
- CLOSED - Either the check has been confirmed as no declared tip, or a tip has been applied.
As a note, CLOSED does not mean the state cannot be moved back to paid or open - due to refunds, adjusted payments, or the need to adjust tip.
