Orders Webhook

We are developing a platform where we need a web hook for new orders placed on the POS. We use this to generate statistics and metrics for the business.

We've had success implementing this on Square and Clover but do not see that Toast has something similar.

It would be great to support it so we can sell this module to our Toast customers.

  This is a highly demanded webhook that we are working on. We will have this in the future but as of now we don't have a solution. We will keep you informed when there are updates in this area.

  Hi Shane,

  Just wondering if there is an update on the ETA for the Orders webhook, and if it will provide consolidated / overall Order Status?  The use case I am solving for is displaying order status on digital signage in front of house, in real time.  This post indicates that each individual item has a fulfillmentStatus, but I am looking for an overall order status to display to customers to let them know to pick up their food at the counter when the entire order is ready.  Thanks!

  Hi anthony.dinh, no updates yet! I recommend signing up for our release notes email list, if you aren't on it already. Any changes to our APIs or webhooks we will announce in the release notes emails.

  Hi Ann Murphy, is there any current workaround you'd be able to suggest?

  The use case for us at Incentivio is providing sms updates to the customers when their order is received and when it is ready to be fulfilled. 

  We can poll the /ordersBulk endpoint but we're not sure if this provides the actual fulfillment status.

  Hi Matt Goldman,

  The fulfillmentStatus is available at the selection level in an order (order-->check-->selection). As the menu item moves through the functions of the Toast POS and KDS, it will have a value of NEW, HOLD, SENT, or READY. When each item on an order has the fulfillmentStatus of READY, the preparation is complete. The endpoint however, will only display the READY status if a restaurant is using a Toast KDS. To determine if the order is complete, you'll want to look at the fulfillmentStatus for each item.
